THANK YOU LETTER Chicago, IL
Dear Swan House Family and Partners:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Words cannot express the joy that you have brought to my family. I genuinely appreciate all of the hard work and long hours that you dedicated to the building of our home. In addition to helping my family, the new home has helped the village of Riverdale. It has helped to improve the image of our community. You have torn down what once was an eyesore and built something beautiful in its place.
Obtaining my bachelor’s degree fulfilled one of my most important goals in life. I always knew that I would return to school, but it never seemed like the right time. Finally after 11 years of waiting, I decided that it was time. I had the support of my church family and I put my all into making a better future for my daughters. My faith in God and love for my children kept me on track even when I struggled. Then, along came the Swan Group with an offer that seemed too good to be true. The offer of a home from perfect strangers! I still have a hard time believing it sometimes, but when I walk through the door, it just feels like home. My children and I feel comfortable and secure.
I am always in awe of people who give so much of themselves and ask for nothing in return. It is people like you who make the world a wonderful place. You have inspired me to commit myself to service in my community and society as a whole. Your gift not only blessed my family with homeownership, but also gave me a giant boost in my effort to complete my education. I thank you and will always remember what you have done for us!
With Love,
Lynda Garrison

THANK YOU LETTER Green Bay, WI
Dear Partners & Friend of the Swan House:
I understand, from my dedicated friends at The Swan House Project in Green Bay Wisconsin, you have supported their efforts in assisting single parents’ graduation from college in order that they may move on, be self-sufficient, and give back to the community so generously and kindly as you have. I want to show my appreciation for the work The Swan House has done for me and my three children (Sequoia, Jonas, and Jaqx) by sharing my experience while informing you how your gifts have touched our lives in a very meaningful way. We are truly grateful!
Upon my return to Green Bay over three years ago, I knew that I needed to complete my education to obtain my goals and be self-sufficient. I felt as if it was almost impossible without placing my family in unstable and unhealthy conditions, which was not an option. I was not optimistic about completing my degree. I thought there was no way I am going to be able to accomplish anything of the sort with three children. My daughter Sequoia was looking at possible brain surgery at the time for her seizure disorder, and I had two new babies. I felt terrified and very alone. I had to do it, but I did not know how. With this issue paining my mind, I met Chris Swan. He showed me how I could reach my goal. “This sounds too good to be true”, I remember telling him. So, he introduced me to his wife Jane, who then both convinced me that I could graduate from college with the proper support. They were willing to help me. Why were they doing it? What's the catch? “Because that's what people do for one another”, they said. “They give each other a hand up, so the next person can pass it on.” This made perfect sense to me.
After 21 years of struggling to complete my Bachelor’s Degree, I have done it in about a year and a half after meeting Chris and Jane. Additionally, I am currently attending graduate school this semester. My four year old son Jonas told me the other night that he wants to grow up and build houses for people like Chris. This made me smile the most because my child wants to give back to the community.
My children and I are happy, safe, comfortable, and healthy by having the opportunity to live in the most BEAUTIFUL HOME, The Swan House. Thanks to people like you and The Swan House Project for making my dream a reality.
Now that The Swan House has expanded to include future technology and construction classes to help more families with an exciting new curriculum, please continue your financial support. This is a hard struggle that needs people like you, committed to lending a hand for a future for all families.
My family and I want to thank you personally for your generous gift and hope you will support this year's 2009 Campaign of Giving.
Sincerely, Roni C. Anderson
