Swan House Builds Homes for Single-Parents Pursuing Higher Education
The first and second Swan House located in Green Bay was built with the help of over 200 volunteers and many in-kind donations from local businesses and community partners.
The Swan House assists single parents and her/his children by building a home and making it available to the family while the parent pursues a higher education. It was founded by Christopher Swan in 2000. Chris Swan, a survivor himself, and his wife Jane Swan believes in giving back to those in need who work to help themselves, their families and their community.
“It’s a dream of ours to reduce homelessness and increase higher education of single-parent families and their children by providing them homes during their college education."
Swan built the first Swan House in Chicago with The Swan Group and co-founder Jim Rose. Additional funding sponsors needed to continue construction on future homes. Area businesses, community members and entrepreneurs interested in supporting “The Swan House Initiative” and making a lasting impact on families in your community can contact The Swan House at (920) 217-4056 or click on the contact link below.
The mission of the Swan House is to make a difference for a family and a neighborhood. Building pride, hope and a spirit of shared accomplishment. By supporting educational attainment and neighborhood development, the Swan House Initiative empowers youth, families and communities.
